东西部高校非英语专业大学生英语学习动机对比研究  

A Comparative Study on Non-English Majored Students' English Learning Motivations Between Universities in East and West China

摘　　要：本研究采用问卷的方法,考查了东西部两所高校非英语专业大学生在六种英语学习动机上的异同。受试为东部"双一流"A类大一本科生304人和西部民族院校大一本科生250人。问卷包括34个有关"为什么学习英语"的问题,根据Gardner(1985)的态度与动机测试表改编而成。研究发现,两校学生在"文化生活融入"、"文化兴趣"、"对英语国家人的态度",以及"个人发展"动机上存在显著差异;而在"个人经历"和"语言兴趣"动机上不存在显著差异。造成这些差异的原因主要是英语水平、地域及个人内在兴趣差异等。针对西部民族院校学生英语学习动机较弱的问题,文章提出了增强其英语学习积极性的措施建议。The present study investigated differences of non-English majors’English learning motivation between universitiesin East and West China. The participants, who were 304 undergraduates from a top ranking university in East China and 250undergraduates from a Minzu university in West China, were asked to finish a 34-items questionnaire adapted from Gardner（1985）’s Attitude∕Motivation Test Battery. Results showed that there were significant differences on “cultural integration”,“interest in English culture”, “attitudes toward people in English-speaking countries”, and “individual development”instead of“personal experiences”and “interest in foreign languages”. Such differences may be attributed to regional influences, students’English proficiency and their intrinsic interest. Suggestions on how to enhance English learning motivation were proposed.
