摘 要:劳伦斯是一位始终以全知角度创作小说的作家。他的短篇小说《弦外之音》无疑也是一篇独白型的作品。但声音对此小说的构成却举足轻重。本文拟以巴赫金的理论和劳氏本人的思想,来分析融合在故事构架中主题驱使下神话式的理想主义元素,以及超出作者独白意识但仍在其文学创作理念和艺术道德中的他的自然主义手法,并以此来揭示小说的独白性和微弱的对话因素,即在独白意识主宰下的人物的声音中成5度和8度关系上的自然泛音。D.H.Laurence remained an omniscient novelist,whose short story 'The Overtone'is unexceptionally monologic.Nevertheless,the voices are essential in its composition and shedding a light on its monologic nature.Via Mikhail Bakhtin's perspective and Lawrence's ideology in his essays,this thesis is aimed at analyzing the two elements which are fused in the structure of the story.The one is his mythological idealism driven by the thematic consciousness;the other is his naturalistic approach which goes beyond his monologic consciousness but is still within his conceptions on literature creation and artistic morality.Thus,the monologic nature of the story,and furthermore,the weak dialogical factors(the overtones which are 5 or 8 degree in interval to the sounds voiced by the characters who are under authorial control) will be expounded.
