摘　　要：The Joy Luck Club is a must-read for people interested in intercultural communication and mother-daughter relationship. It consists of sixteen interwoven stories about conflicts between immigrant mothers and their American-raised daughters and between couples. The writer sets out to explore the clashes from a cross-cultural perspective, mainly discussing the Chinese and western cultural differences and similarities.
