摘　　要：拜厄特在小说《太阳的影子》中对西方经典神话进行了借鉴和重塑。主人公安娜源于神话中夏洛特女士的形象,同时被赋予了新的时代气息,体现了维多利亚时期女性追求自由、实现自我价值的艰难历程。小说中太阳、影子、光、镜子等背景意象也分别有其神话原型,作者通过对这些意象及其相互关系的描述深刻揭示了维多利亚时期女性的从属地位和艰难处境。Based on Myth-archetypal Criticism theory,this paper tries to interpret the main characters and background words in Byatt’s novel The Shadow of the Sun,and intends to find various mythological archetypes.By doing so,readers can get a deeper understanding of women’s social status in Victorian Age.Through the in-depth analysis of Miss Charlotte,sun,shadow and light,this paper exposes the mythological background of this novel and helps readers get a deeper insight into the characters in it.
