摘 要:柯勒律治的诗歌《忽必烈汗》,通过具有不同主人公和叙述者的三个连续的叙述序列,巧妙地表现出艺术创造(诗歌的主题框架)的不确定过程。抒情人(将自己界定为作者)首先记录了灵感来自梦中幻象的有关忽必烈汗的诗歌写作被打断。接着,一个客观的抒情人叙说了忽必烈汗建造欢乐宫的故事。最后,抒情人表达了他尚未实现的渴望,即在诗歌中重新创造宫殿,以此作为他被接受为真正诗人的前提。三个序列之间的相互连接可以作为一种策略,以潜在地克服浪漫主义诗人艺术创造力的问题。艺术创造的三个叙述,其结束相对于事件性各有不同。第一个叙述无法触及事件,第三个叙述只能设想未来的事件,第二个叙述则涉及在过去取得的重要成就。诗歌赋予诸事件在两个层次上以特色,一是在被叙述的故事层次上,二是在三个故事的系列层次上,作为对有意识的创造性问题的灵巧解决和对灵感来源的确认。Employing a narratological approach,this article analyzes the fragmentary and heterogeneous setup of Coleridge’s enigmatic“Kubla Khan”as the skilful rendering of the precarious process of artistic creation(as the thematic frame of the poem)by means of the succession of three narrative sequences featuring different protagonists and narrators.In the prose preface the speaker(identifying himself as the author)records the interrupted composition of a poem on Kubla Khan inspired by a vision in a dream.Subsequently,in the first two thirds of the poem proper an impersonal speaker narrates the story of Kubla’s construction of a summer palace.Finally,in the poem’s last third the speaker voices his longing,as yet unfulfilled,for the inspired re-creation of the palace in poetry as the prerequisite for his being accepted as a true poet.The interconnection between these sequences can be construed as a strategy of surreptitiously overcoming the romantic poet’s problem of artistic productivity:the obstruction of his creative powers by excessive self-consciousness.The three narratives of artistic creation end differently with respect to eventfulness.While the first narrative fails to reach an event and the third envisages an event only in the future,the second refers to the eventful achievement in the past.Thus the poem features events on two levels:the level of one of the narrated stories and,more ingeniously,on the level of the constellation of three stories as the skillful solution to the problem of conscious creativity and the confirmation of inspired authorship.
