《奇境》中男性群像的精神生态解读

摘　　要：欧茨的小说《奇境》刻画了20世纪30年代末到70年代初处于历史变迁中的男性荒原般的精神状态,深入男性内心最隐秘的地方,揭示了他们的恐惧、压抑、绝望,探寻了男性的内心孤独、抑郁、精神空虚、自我异化的生存困境。小说中对男性精神生态的刻画,说明当时美国社会的不良现象给人们生存造成的混乱局面和心理问题,也体现出欧茨对人的关注,对人精神的关切,对男性无奈处境的怜悯。Joyce Carol Oates offers a elaborate delineation of male characters’spiritual wasteland in Wonderland,and goes deep into the very recesses of male brains to explore their living predicament:loneliness,suppression,emptiness,and alienation.The description of male spiritual ecology reveals individuals’dislocation and extreme psychological turmoil which are caused by harmful trends in the contemporary American society.The vivid account also reflects Oates’s focus on human and human’s spirit and pity for male helpless situation.
