论“雅洁”古文译介中的解释性翻译——以大中华文库《左忠毅公逸事》英译为例

摘　　要：大中华文库收录的《左忠毅公逸事》英译文使用了很多解释性翻译。古文译介中,解释性翻译有其存在的必然性,但解释性翻译又使译文有繁琐、啰嗦之嫌,与原文的雅洁文风相冲突,不能忠实地传达出原文语言与风格上的特点。若想化解这一矛盾,译者便不能满足于解释性翻译的便利,只能视之为无计可施情况下的权宜手段,同时不懈地探求更加准确的对等译法,从而提高译文的质量。The famous prose Zuo Zhong Yi Gong Yi Shi written by Fang Bao is elegant and succinct,but its English version The Story of Zuo Guangdou– the Revered Mr.Zhongyi published by the Library of Chinese Classics has used a lot of explanatory translation,which makes the translated text a bit long-winded,and as a result,deviating from the succinctness and neatness of the original.Therefore,in the translation of the classics,explanatory translation should be regarded as an expedient for the translator,rather than the ultimate goal,which should always be translation equivalence.
