Objective:To explore serum interleukin featuress of the cytokines(IL-1β,IL-4,IL-6)and interferon(IFN-γ)in the aged people with cognitive impairments.Method:A total of78old people(≥60years)were divided into cognitive impairment group(n=54)and normal control group(n=24)in terms of Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA)score.Serum levels of IL-1β,IL-4,IL-6and IFN-γwere measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)kits. Results:Serum levels of IL-1β(t=-4.95,P=0.000),IFN-γ(t=-2.44,P=0.018)and IL-6(t=-2.76,P=0.007)in the cognitive impairment group were significantly higher than those in the normal control group. The ratios of IL4/IL1β(t=3.99,P=0.000)and IL4/IFN-γ(t=3.10,P=0.004)were significantly lower in the cognitive impairment group compared with normal control group.Serum levels of IL-4(t=-1.04,P=0.304)and IL4/IL6(t=-0.77,P=0.442)were not significantly different in the two groups. Conclusion:The study result suggests IL-1β,IFN-γand IL-6could be used as one of biomarkers in the diagnosis of senior cognitive impairment.
