摘  要:本文以商务英语信函中的人际语法隐喻为例,探讨人际语法隐喻的发生理据和文体功能。人际语法隐喻的发生受文化语境、情景语境和说话人交际意图的制约,国际商务文化语境和商务信函交际情景语境是商务英语信函文体中人际语法隐喻发生的诱因,信函作者想要传递人际"礼貌"意义、实现合作的意图是其发生的内驱力。人际语法隐喻通过在特定文体中的"失衡"分布发挥文体功能,它在商务英语信函中的"超用"是与情景语境相关的"有动因的突出",具有促使商务英语信函文体的一些词句特征和语义风格凸显的文体功能。This paper, from functional perspective, taking interpersonal metaphor in business English letters as a case, purports to discuss the motivation and stylistic functions of interpersonal metaphor. It is argued that interpersonal metaphor is shaped by the context of culture, context of situation and speaker’s goal of communication;the context of international business culture and the situation of business letter communication serve as the inducements of the occurrence of interpersonal metaphor in business English letters, and the writer’s goal of conveying interpersonal "politeness" so as to achieve cooperation is the internal motivation. Interpersonal metaphor presents a stylistic function through its "deflection" in certain styles;its "overuse" in business English letters is the "motivated prominence" correlated with the context of situation, and has the stylistic function in making some of their lexical-syntactic characteristics and certain stylistic semantic features salient.
