A adsorbent was prepared from fish scale of tilapia and the effects of adsorbent dosage, initial concentration of crystal violet, time and solution pH value on the adsorption property were investigated. The absorption mechanism of sorbent were studied by use of kinetic,FT-IR assay,BET and SEM as well. The results showed that when the absorbent dosages was 3 g/L,pH=7,30℃,the initial concentration of crystal violet was 40 mg/L and adsorption time was 20 min,the rate of adsorption of crystal violet was up to 66.69%while the adsorption capacity reached8.27 mg/g.The adsorption of crystal violet on the tilapia fish scales agreed with physical adsorption process, and followed the Lagergren pseudo-second-order kinetics equation. The equilibrium adsorption data of crystal violet on tilapia fish scales could be described by the Freundlich isotherm models, when T=30℃,the max adsorption capacity of crystal violet(qmax)was 18.9 mg/g.The infrared analysis showed that protein and hydroxyapatite of fish scales all participated in the crystal violet absorption.
