摘　　要：In the negative auxilialess finite clauses of Early Modern English,the main verbs are placed in front of the negative not without any auxiliary inversions,which are not the case in Modern Standard English.This study aims to explore the reasons for the evolution of them on a Minimalist approach,and finds that the difference of them is triggered by two distinctive ways of feature checking.In the negative auxilialess finite clauses of Early Modern English, the main verbs are placed in front of the negative not without any auxiliary inversions, which are not the case in Modern Standard English.
