基于大学英语教材语料库的中国文化词语分布特征分析

摘　　要：为了解中国文化词语的分布情况,本文对其在8套国内较为通行的大学英语教材中的分布进行了语料库的统计分析,研究发现:中国文化词语在我国大学英语教材中的出现频次偏低,且集中在少数几篇课文中,在不同教材中的分布也存在较大差异;在有限的中国文化词语中,以制度行为文化和物质生产文化类的词语居多,而对亟待“走出去”的中国传统精神文化和现代价值观念等精神心理文化关注较少,所关注的文化类别缺乏代表性,中国文化被边缘化、碎片化和片面化的现象较为突出。在以后的教材编撰中,我们需增加中国文化内容的配置数量,遴选能够代表中国文化核心内容的文化主题,并围绕这些主题展开深入讨论和比较,以提升学习者对中国文化的英语表述能力。Based on a self-constructed corpus consisting of eight sets of College English textbooks which are being widely used by the college students in China's Mainland, this paper carries out a statistical analysis of the China-related Cultural Words (CCW) in these textbooks. The major findings are as follows: the overall frequency of CCW in the corpus is quite low;there exist significant differences among diffe-rent sets of textbooks in the distribution of CCW;most of the CCW appearing in the corpus belong to the institutional-behavioral culture and material culture, but few of them touch upon the spiritual-mental culture, such as the Chinese traditional spiritual culture and modern values which are expected to be introduced to foreign countries more urgently;the cultural categories represented by the CCW are not typical and representative enough;Chinese culture has been severely marginalized, fragmented and partialized in the textbooks. In order to improve English learners’ ability to express Chinese culture in English, we need to increase the number of CCW in the textbooks, select cultural themes that can represent the core content of Chinese culture, and conduct in-depth discussions and comparisons on these themes.
