中西文化语境下的“桃园三结义”——以《甘加丁之路》为例

摘　　要：美国华裔作家赵健秀的小说《甘加丁之路》中的"桃园结义三兄弟"来源于中国古典名著《三国演义》中刘、关、张三人义结金兰的情节。通过对其结义初衷、人物形象及结义意义的分析,阐述中西文化语境下"桃园三结义"的差异,探寻其产生的深层原因,以及中国传统故事对美国华裔族群身份探寻的意义。The"Oath of the Peach Garden"in the novel Gunga Din Highway by the Chinese American writer Frank Chin originated from the Chinese classical historical novel Romance of Three Kingdoms.This essay is meant to contrast the"Oath of the Peach Garden"in Chinese and Western cultural contexts from the perspective of the origin of the oath,the key characters,and the social meaning of the oath through intensive reading of the text and figuring out the underlying reasons for the differences in order to explore the meaning of Chinese story to Chinese Americans when they are searching for their cultural identity.
