摘　　要：功率单位“马力”这个概念传入中国是在19世纪中期,这个词的出现差不多也是在这个时期。它应该是英语horsepower的仿译。大约过了三四十年,“马力”在汉语中已经基本定型,不但在科学著述中使用,在普通文献中也经常能见到。后来“马力”还传到了日本。The concept of power unit “horsepower” entered China in the middle of the 19th century, and the Chinese word “mali” (horsepower) appeared almost during this period. It should be a loan-translation of the English horsepower. After about three or four decades, “mali” has been basically stereotyped in Chinese. It is not only used in scientific writings, but also often seen in ordinary texts. It is both a scientific term and a daily word. Later, “mali” also moved to Japan from China.
