摘　　要：高级英语作为英语专业高年级的核心课程,旨在培养学生的英语综合技能。当前高英教学中,以词句讲解、翻译为主的传统教学方式已明显不能满足学生进一步提高英语综合能力的要求。将短篇小说赏析作为辅助手段引入高英教学可以成为解决当前困境的一种新思路,同时有效促进学生提高阅读理解、分析欣赏、独立思维和写作等方面能力。Being a core course in the junior and senior years,the objective of Advanced English is to cultivate students general ability in using English.In current situation,the traditional way of teaching Advanced English,which focuses on the explanation of use of words and phrases and the translation of sentences,obviously cannot further improve students practical ability in English.It will be very helpful to introduce the appreciation of English short stories as a complementary means in teaching Advanced English,which can effectively promote the students abilities in reading comprehension,the analysis and appreciation of the text,independent thinking and writing,etc.
