Objective To study the association of health status and chronic diseases, respectively, with disaster preparedness among elder adults with chronic disease. Methods In October 2018,165 elderly people were selected as the study subjects to collect the relationship between their general status, health status and disaster preparedness level in a three-A hospital in Chengdu. Results A relatively small percentage of households had a complete set of disaster preparedness supplies,an emergency evacuation plan and a three-day supply of medications.Respondents with multiple chronic diseases were generally more likely to have a three-day supply of medications in comparison with their healthier counterparts. Conclusion To improve preparedness among vulnerable older adults,a holistic assessment of directly canvassing the views of older people is necessary and should be transferred into practical conditions of disaster preparedness.
