中国外语教学与研究70年的回顾与反思

摘　　要：中国外语教学与研究在中华人民共和国成立后的70年、尤其是其中后40年里取得了超常规的迅猛发展。这些发展使中国外语教学与研究上了一个较高的台阶。中国的外语研究已经基本与国际相关学界同步。但由于中国外语学科设置的特殊性,在取得辉煌成绩的同时,外语教学与研究的一些内在的、更深层次的学科问题随着发展繁荣也日显突出。外语教学与研究在辉煌的同时正面临着一系列难以回避的问题和挑战。This study attempts to examine foreign language education and research in the past 70 years through a comprehensive review.The fi ndings show that the past 70 years,and the last 40 years in particular,have witnessed tremendous development in the areas of foreign language education and research in China.The development has enhanced teaching and boosted research endeavours,thus enabling Chinese researchers to advance at the same pace with their international counterparts.Albeit of the impressive accomplishments,due to specialties of the Chinese style curriculum,the sector faces a series of grave challenges in both teaching and research.These challenges arise mostly from the problems intrinsic in the infrastructure.In conclusion,the author argues that the experience of the past 70 years’development suggests that the only way to further academic research in foreign languages is through opening the door to the outside world and actively engaging in dynamic dialogues with the international scholarly community.
