摘  要:20世纪英国作家毛姆素以热爱旅行、作品富有异国情调著称。毛姆对中国文化很感兴趣,曾于1919年-1920年到中国游历了四个月。回国后,他以在中国的见闻和感受为蓝本,创作了三部作品:游记《在中国屏风上》、小说《彩色的面纱》和戏剧《苏伊士之东》,描绘了作为“他者”的中国形象。从比较文学形象学的角度分析,毛姆笔下的中国人,丑陋与神秘并存;毛姆笔下的中国环境,蛮荒与奇异交织。然而,毛姆作品中的中国形象,远非真实的中国形象,而更多是出自他(身为西方人)的想象与误读。In the 20 th century,Maugham,the British writer,was famous for loving travel and showing exotic atmosphere in his works.Maugham was interested in the Chinese culture and once traveled to China for 4 months in 1919-1920.After coming back home,based on the information and feeling in China,he created three works:the book of travel—On the Screen of China,the novel—the Painted Veil and the drama—East of Suez to describe the image of China as the“others”.From the perspective of Comparative Literature,Chinese people written by Maugham are ugly and mysterious.The environment of China in his opinions is uncivilized and miraculous.However,the image of China in his works is far away from the real image of China,but his and misunderstanding(as a westerner).
