摘　　要：《天黑前的夏天》刻画了中年女性凯特的精神成长历程。作者多丽丝·莱辛将凯特置于不同的背景下进行拷问,形成一系列与当代女性的对话--探讨女性自我寻找的经历,深刻反思男女两性关系;描写女性的私密心理,刻画女性面对年龄危机的恐惧,批判男权社会对女性压抑的角色定位及由此带给女性对婚姻的疑惑和异化,并以此反观莱辛的女性意识及对两性关系的态度。In The Summer before the Dark,Doris Lessing depicts the spiritual growth of middle-aged Kate,who was entrapped in spiritual crisis for losing her ego.Lessing interrogates the protagonist in different contexts and explores her self-identifying experiences,whereby introspects male and female relations,describes the private psychology of females,portrays female’s fear of aging.And most importantly,it criticizes the repressed role the patriarchal society forced on females,and also the doubts and alienation of female on marriage.It is Doris Lessing’s own reflection on the female consciousness and dialectal attitude on male and female relations.
