清朝遗老与“五四运动”

摘　　要：沈曾植和王国维是清末民初杰出的学者,他们的学术研究涉及当时世界学术的前沿,他们的学术思想开放,同时也与国外学者有着比较频繁的学术交流。然而在政治上,他们却非常保守,始终以清朝"遗老"的身份自居。当"五四运动"来临的时候,他们似乎对此不闻不问、无动于衷。本文希望通过具体的文献分析,探索沈曾植、王国维这样"遗老"式的一流学者,在"五四运动"期间的思想状态与生存状态,以期展现出另一个面相的"五四运动"并探索中国近代学术发展的另一脉络。Shen Zengzhi(沈曾植)and Wang Guowei(王国维)were outstanding scholars in late Qing and early Republic periods. They were open to new thoughts and advanced studies, and frequently exchanged their views with foreign scholars. They really represented the cutting edge of scholarship on China worldwide at the time. In the meantime, however, they were very conservative in politics and considered themselves die-hard adherents of the past Qing Dynasty. When the May 4 th Movement started, it seemed that they never noticed that it was something uncommon. This paper aims to show another side of the"May 4 th Movement"and the track of intellectual development in Modern China through an exploration of the thoughts and lives of Shen Zengzhi and Wang Guowei in the May 4 th Movement.
