摘　　要：无论是以传统还是网络时代的视角来看,英语报刊作为信息交流的载体之一,不但具备明显的时代气息,而且还是最受大学生喜欢的英语读物之一。与其他类型的英语读物相比,英语报刊可以作为提高学生英语语言运用能力的材料,既拥有各种新鲜的内容,又包括了大量人文、社会以及自然生态等方面的内容。因此想要提升高校学生的英语语言能力,英语报刊阅读无疑是最好的选择。文中对于通过英语报刊阅读的方式,来提升大学生语言能力发展的意义,进行了简要论述,并针对如何在具体的教学过程当中,利用英语报刊阅读来提高大学生语言能力,给出了一些行之有效的办法,以供参考。Whether from the perspective of tradition or the Internet age,English newspapers and periodicals,as one of the carriers of information exchange,not only have a distinct flavor of the times,but also are one of the most popular English reading materials for college students.Compared with other types of English reading materials,English newspapers and periodicals can be used as materials to improve students'ability to use English language.They not only have a variety of fresh contents,but also contain a large number of humanities,society and natural ecology.Therefore,in order to improve college students'English language ability,English newspaper reading is undoubtedly the best choice.This paper briefly discusses the significance of improving college students'language competence through reading English newspapers and periodicals,and gives some effective ways to improve college students'language competence through reading English newspapers and periodicals in the specific teaching process for reference.
