摘　　要：20世纪30年代,美国大学出现了过分实用化、物质化的倾向,大学精神性日益丧失,赫钦斯对此提出了严厉的批判。通过回望传统古典大学重拾古希腊理智文化的优良传统,对大学内涵、大学功能、大学终极目标以及大学内部制度治理等进行了阐述,生动的展现了赫钦斯本人对西方古典大学学术自由、学术独立以及学术自治精神的理想追求,这对于中国高校的内涵建设、人文建设以及世界一流水平大学建设有着非同寻常的意义和价值。1930s,there has been too much American universities practical,materialistic tendency of increasing loss of university spirit,Hutchins have put forward harsh criticism.Looking back through the fine tradition of classical university to restore the ancient Greek tradition of intellectual culture,the connotation of the university,the university function,the ultimate goal of the University and other universities as well as internal systems of governance are described,vividly demonstrated Hutchins himself University of Western classical academic freedom,independent academic ideals and spirit of academic autonomy,which currently has a very important reference for the humanities building Chinese universities and world-class university building.
