从叶落归根到落地生根——马来西亚龙岩籍华侨的艰难选择  

A Difficult Choice from“Returning to Their Roots”to“Taking Root Where They Reside”--Taking the Overseas Chinese of Longyan Origin in Malaysia as an Example

摘　　要：龙岩地区人民从明清时期开始较大规模往南洋谋生,但历经数个世纪,移民大多不愿意在南洋当地落地生根,而是将自己定位为总要叶落归根的侨居者。其原因主要有三:一是男人只身往洋,女人留祖地持家;二是西方列强的殖民统治;三是侨居地时有排华事件。但自第二次世界大战结束之后起,龙岩籍华侨落地生根观念逐步取代叶落归根观念。其原因也主要有三:一是飘洋过海,路途遥远;二是已成家立业,携家挈口;三是南洋殖民地独立,国家不承认双重国籍。于是,从20世纪50年代开始,侨居马来西亚的龙岩籍华侨大多自觉或不自觉地在当地落地生根,并进一步融入当地社会,成为多民族大家庭的一员,为其新的多元民族国家服务和贡献,扮演着与其他民族和谐相处的角色。From the Ming and Qing dynasties,people in Longyan area began to make a living in the southern ocean on a large scale.However,after several centuries,most of the immigrants were unwilling to settle down and take roots in the southern ocean;they defined themselves as overseas Chinese who were bound to return to their roots.There are three main reasons for this:first,men went abroad alone while women stayed at ancestral home;the second is the colonial rule of western powers;third,there have been incidents of Chinese exclusion in the place where overseas Chinese live.But since the end of World War Ⅱ,the concept of taking roots has gradually replaced the idea of returning to the roots.There are also three main reasons for this:first,it is a long journey across the sea;second,they have built their families and started their careers;third,after the independence of the colonies,the country does not recognize dual nationality.Therefore,since the 1950 s,most of overseas Chinese of Longyan origin in Malaysia consciously or unconsciously have taken roots,further integrated into the local society,and become a member of the multi-ethnic family,serving and contributing to the country and playing a role in the harmony with other ethnic groups.
