Children’s behavior factors are one of the important risk factors of children’s traffic accidents.Due to the cognitive development characteristics of children, they are more likely to make mistakes than adults in some scenarios in the process of crossing urban roads. Therefore,an effective traffic safety education method is needed to improve children’s behavior and reduce their risks of crossing urban roads. The research goal of this topic is to use virtual reality technology to simulate and construct the traffic safety training virtual reality system for educating children crossing urban roads in view of the two key scenarios of perception and judgment of vehicle speed and vehicle spacing and children’s sight blocked because of temporary vehicle parking. The system was put into local primary school trials, and the experimental results proved that students have a chance to cross the road after passing many trainings.Questionnaire survey shows that students’safety awareness has improved after receiving training. It proves that virtual reality used for children’s cross-city road simulation and training can enhance children’s ability to cross the road.
