摘　　要：尤金·奥尼尔被认为美国戏剧的奠基人,《长夜漫漫路迢迢》被视为是他文学创作的高峰和美国戏剧时代来临的标志,戏剧中的典型意向具有其独特的象征意义,对于故事的发展起着至关重要的作用。本文旨在通过分析小说中典型场景的特征及作用,探究奥尼尔在戏剧中所描绘的场景的象征意义对于突出故事主题和刻画人物的主要性格等所起的重要作用。Eugene O’Neill has been considered as the founder of American drama and"Long Day’s Journey into Night"indicates the climax of O’Neill’s literary career and the coming of age of American drama.Many scenes in the story have unique symbolic meanings,which are of great importance to the development of the story.It is aimed at figuring out the symbolic meanings of the typical scenes,thus revealing the theme of the story and the prominent features of the main characters.
