On Thematic Progression Pattern in the English Abstracts of Journal Ar-ticles of Educational Psychology Based on Moves Theory

摘  要:Abstracts,as an important part of academic papers,have been widely researched.In this study,10 English abstracts selected from the journal articles of medicine are analyzed from the perspective of five-move pattern and thematic progression pattern.The findings reveal that first,Move 1,Move 3 and Move 4 involving research method and result occupy a large part of the abstract.Second,compared with the other three moves,thematic progression pattern is applied more frequently in Move 3 and Move4.Third,constant thematic pattern and linear pattern are applied frequently than constant rheme pattern and cross pattern.The findings of this study are helpful to improve the writing criteria of English abstracts of papers in international psychological journals.
