摘  要:Writing,reading,listening,and speaking are four skills involved in languag e learning and t eaching.Writing and speaking are considered as productive skills while reading and listening are seen as receptive skills.However,the relationship between productive and r eceptive skills has been poorly understood for a lengthy period of time(Richar ds,2002).For most people,to learn knowledge of a second language is to be able to write and to speak;thus,reading and listening have been seen as a secondary skill–“means to other ends,rather than ends in themselves”(Nunan,1997,p47).In addition,it was assumed that listening skill could not be taught but through exposure(Richards,2002).
