The famous American poet Emily Dickinson describes death and its experience in a number of her poems;in them death and its process is not a terrible thing but an enjoyable journey. In fact Emily Dickinson tries to find the meaning of living in her solitary and reclusive life, and her death poems are her efforts to resist death and find the meaning of her life. Her“being towards death”attitude makes her eternal in the world literature. It is instructive to make students understand and experience her death poems in English and American literature teaching.
