摘 要:在剧作《维纳斯》中,苏珊-洛莉·帕克斯将大量脚注运用到巴特曼事件的创作中。脚注中的历史文献既有官方档案,又有民间杂闻逸事,揭示出历史叙述的复调性和杂语性,形成一张对勘映射的话语网络。同时,《维纳斯》中的脚注脱离文本边缘,进入主文本,与虚构戏剧语境交叉渗透,干预剧情发展,揭示戏剧虚构性,使巴特曼事件在虚实交错中呈现扑朔迷离的样态。无论是从文本本身还是从戏剧叙事层面看,脚注在该剧中发挥了有效的历史再现功能,揭示了历史叙事的后现代诗学特征。In Venus, Suzan-Lori Parks employs footnotes in her dramatic construction of the life of Baartman. The historical texts in the footnotes include official documents and anecdotes in the folk culture. These texts work together to reveal polyphonies of historical narratives and present an intertextual web of discourses. Moreover, the footnotes are set free from the margin of the text and allowed to enter the main text, which interact with the fabricated dramatic context, intrude into the plot and unmask the fictionality of theatre. In this way, the history of Baartman vacillates between the real and the fictional, presenting itself as a mixture of accessibility and inaccessibility. Whether from the footnote text itself or from the dramatic narrative level, the footnotes in Venus contribute to the literary presentation of history and fulfillment of the postmodern historical poetics.
