摘 要:比较文学形象学学科兴起后,越来越多的学者开始关注作家作品中的异国异族形象研究,探究异国形象的创作过程及深层意义。英国作家毛姆因异域风情书写而闻名于世,他在《面纱》中所刻画的中国"他者"形象徘徊于意识形态与乌托邦之间。从形象学外部研究视角来看,毛姆在作品中呈现的"他者"形象,与真实的中国无关。内在原因与毛姆生活的时代背景、个人经历和心理活动息息相关。After the rise of the subject of comparative literature imagology, more and more scholars began to pay attention to the study of exotic image in the works of writers, exploring the creation process and deep meaning of exotic image. The British writer Maugham is well-known for his exotic writing. The image of the Chinese“ other” he portrayed in The Painted Veil lingers between ideology and utopia. From the perspective of external study of imagology, the“ other” image presented by Maugham has nothing to do with the real China. The internal reasons are closely related to the background of Maugham’ s life, personal experience and psychological activities.
