摘　　要：自20世纪初以来,有关"民族""中华民族"等概念的阐释一直是中国学术界的热点问题。如何使居住在边疆地区的各民族形成对国家的认同感,使其拥有现代国家的国民意识,从而拉近边疆与内地的距离,将其整合成为一个整体,是辛亥革命以来历届中央政府为之努力的重要政治目标,九一八事变爆发特别是全面抗战开始后,更是成为关系国家民族生死存亡的亟须推进的重大问题。中国民族学会就是在此背景下成立的一个以研究民族及其文化为宗旨的学术团体,它所关注的问题及遭遇的困境均与抗战这一特殊的时代背景有关,从另一个视角别开生面地具体呈现了全面抗战时期民族问题研究的历史样态及其时代特征。其对民族理论的研究和实践在今天依然有着借鉴意义。The interpretation of the concepts of"minzu"(nationality/ethnic group/nation/ethnicity)and"the Chinese nation"had been a hot issue in Chinese academic circles since the beginning of the 20 th century.How to make the ethnic groups living in the frontier areas form a sense of national identity and have the national consciousness of a modern country so as to narrow the distance between the frontier region and the inland area and integrate them into a whole was a key political goal of the successive central governments of China since the 1911 Revolution.It had become a major issue concerning the survival of the Chinese nation after the outbreak of the September 18 Incident,especially after the outbreak of the Total War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.Against this background the Chinese Ethnic Society was established as an academic group with the purpose of studying ethnic groups and their cultures.Its concerns and dilemmas were related to this special historical background while its research and practice still have much enlightening significance today because of its perspective of reflecting the historical facts and features of ethnic problems during the Total War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
