摘 要:晚清代数学与天元术的交融碰撞是讨论异质文化互动的绝佳案例。本文分析了中算家对代数学的接受与诠释,考察了他们对天元术的坚守与改造,并通过梳理华蘅芳与李镠争论的过程,借以还原天元术与代数学的一场对话。本文认为晚清天元术有向代数学转变的趋势,即使中算家一直在坚守天元术的价值,也没能避免其本意被瓦解的命运。The encounter of Algebra and Celestial Element Method in the Late Qing Dynasty is a perfect case to discuss the interaction of different cultures. The acceptance and interpretation of Algebra by Chinese mathematicians is analyzed. The persistence and remoulding of Celestial Element Method is investigated. And by means of studying the process of an argument between Li Liu and Hua Hengfang, a dialogue between Algebra and Celestial Element Method is reconstructed. This paper deems that there is a tendency from Celestial Element Method to Algebra in the Late Qing Dynasty. Even if Chinese mathematicians stick to the value of Celestial Element Method, it is not able to avoid the fate of its original meaning to be disintegrated.
