摘 要:通过一项实验,采用隐喻句释义任务和回溯访谈的方式,考查中国二语学习者在英语动词隐喻理解加工过程中采用的策略。经研究发现:二语学习者采用九种策略进行理解,其中具身模拟、句子语境和百科知识是使用频率最高的三项策略,而促成理解正确率最高的三项策略依次为百科知识、具身模拟和句法分析。与其他类型的隐喻理解相比,英语动词隐喻理解具有以下特点:(1)由于动词隐喻的自身属性和特点,具身模拟是最重要的理解策略;(2)动词隐喻理解基本不借助字面意义;(3)百科知识对其理解具有积极的作用。因此,动词隐喻理解与其他类型的隐喻理解相比,既有共性,又有鲜明的个性。最后讨论了以上结果对教学的启示。By means of an experiment based on a translation task of metaphoric sentences and an interview,this research investigates the strategies involved in the process of comprehending English predicative metaphors by Chinese L2 learners.The results show that the learners employ nine types of strategies in comprehension,among which embodied simulation,sentence context as well as encyclopedic knowledge are used most frequently while encyclopedic knowledge,embodied simulation and syntactic analysis yield the highest rates in terms of correct comprehension.Compared with the comprehension of other types of metaphors,the comprehension of English predicative metaphors has following features:(1)embodied simulation is the most important strategy due to the inherent properties and characteristics of predicative metaphors;(2)the comprehension hardly relies on the literal meaning;(3)encyclopedic knowledge plays an active role in the comprehension.Hence,the comprehension of predicative metaphors shares similarities with that of other types of metaphors but boasts its unique features.On the basis of the above-mentioned findings,pedagogic implications for teachers are discussed.
