摘 要:《世说新语》包含了大量的中国传统饮食文化负载词,因其承载了丰富的文化内涵,具有鲜明的民族性、区域性等特点,英译难度较大。基于此,通过解读马瑞志英译本《世说新语》饮食文化负载词的翻译策略与方法,以生态翻译学为理论基础,从语言维、文化维、交际维的适应性选择视角探究其对中国饮食文化负载词翻译的处理和应对,发现英译本较好地体现了三维的适应性选择转换。为此,在翻译中国饮食文化负载词时需注重语言规范性,提升文化可译性,确保交际适切性,从而提高英译水平,促进中国饮食文化的译介与传播。A New Account of Tales of the World includes a considerable number of traditional Chinese cuisine culture-laden words.These words are rich in cultural connotations with distinct national,regional and other characteristics which make it difficult to translate references into English.This article therefore seeks to analyze the translation strategies and methods of the culture-laden words in A New Account of Tales of the World translated by Richard B.Mather from the perspective of Eco-translatology.This provides a view to exploring whether the translation has achieved appropriate adaptive selection from the three dimensions of language,culture,and communication.This analysis reveals that Mather’s translation has realized the adaptive and selective transition of these three dimensions.Based upon this research,the authors provide three suggestions for translating Chinese cuisine culture-laden words.These suggestions include paying attention to standardizing language,enhancing the translatability of culture,and ensuring the appropriateness of communication.Together,these suggestions can improve and promote the dissemination of Chinese cuisine culture.
