杜亚泉文化思想的价值重估

摘　　要：杜亚泉与陈独秀等人的中西文化论战是五四新文化运动中的一个重大理论事件。此次论战中,杜亚泉因为站在陈独秀等人的对立面而成为反对西学的代表。但实际上,在新文化运动之前之后的长时段里,杜亚泉对西方文化和中国文化都有深刻的反思与批判,只不过在中西文化论战之前,杜亚泉主要批判中国文化的弊病,而在此次论战之后,杜亚泉则以中西文化比较视野,非常理性地将批判矛头指向了西方文化的病症。另外,杜亚泉辨析中西文化在宏观、中观、微观上的差异性,提炼文化生理论与中西文化调和论,为中国文化的健康发展寻找根据与出路。总的看来,杜亚泉无论是剖析中西文化的病症,还是树立中西文化差异观,或是提倡中西文化生理论和调和论,都将比较视野、历史意识和忧患意识结合起来,同时体现了对中国文化的自信自强,属于世界文化守成主义思潮的重要一翼,而且他的文化守成与新学(科学)追求并不相悖,是他的文化思想的一体两面。这样的文化态度和理论坚守对当今社会文化反思有着重要的参考价值。The eastern and western cultural controversy between Du Yaquan and Chen Duxiu et al.is a major theoretical event in the New Culture Movement of May Fourth period.Due to the standpoint opposite to Chen et al.,Du became the representative against western culture.Nevertheless,during the long periods before and after the New Culture Movement,Du,in fact,not only criticized the problems of western culture,but also repudiated the disadvantages of Chinese culture.Specifically,Du mainly criticized the disadvantages of Chinese culture before the eastern and western cultural controversy while he rationally turned to criticize the problems of western culture by comparison of Chinese and western cultures after the controversy.Additionally,Du also analyzed the differences between Chinese and western cultures in macro,meso and micro perspectives and refined the theory of physiology and the theory of harmony between Chinese and western cultures so as to find the foundation and a way out for the healthy development of Chinese culture.Generally speaking,in analysis of problems in both Chinese and western cultures,establishment of differences between Chinese and western cultures,or advocation of the theory of physiology and the theory of harmony between Chinese and western cultures,Du integrated the comparative vision,historical consciousness and sense of hardship and reflected the self-confidence and self-improvement of Chinese culture,forming an important school in the conservatism trend in world cultures.Furthermore,his cultural conservatism is the two sides of his cultural thought as an organic whole instead of being contrary to the pursuit of new ideas(science).His cultural attitude and theoretical persistence are of significant referential values for the reflections on contemporary social cultures.
