摘 要:作者声音构建是学术论文评价意义表达的有机构成。文章采用Sinclair的"声言"(averral)和"援引"(attribution)概念框架,基于BEIJING CARE语料库之材料学子库,分析N that型式在中西学者论文中的使用及其作者声音构建方式。研究发现,中西方学者均依赖第一人称代词、回指this等型式与"事实性/关系性名词+that从句"共现,表达积极的评价意义,构建声言;依赖被动结构与"事物名词+that从句"搭配构成援引。然而,两个作者群体的N that型式使用频数差异显著;中国学者的声言和援引远少于西方学者,揭示出两个群体构建声音策略的显著差异。该研究还讨论了学术英语教学中作者声音构建的途径和策略,以期对中国学者国际学术交流效益的提升有一定的启示。Though academic writing is generally acknowledged to be impersonal and detached, recent corpus-based studies show that it contains authorial voice and evaluation. The construction of authorial voice is an integral component of evaluative meaning in research articles. Previous studies on authorial voice in academic writing mainly focused on its inter-disciplinary distribution and the categorization of different types of information sources. The use of first person pronouns to construct authorial voice and information sources in citations has been extensively researched. Few studies,however, have touched on the specific forms and functions of each type of information source. The "noun+ that " pattern, as a linguistic element to construct authorial voice and position,is often neglected. Based on the concepts of "averral"and "attribution"proposed by Sinclair,this study adopted a corpus-based approach to investigate the construction of authorial voice via the"noun + that"pattern in material science research articles by western and Chinese scholars. Concordance lines containing the "noun + that"pattern were extracted using a regular expression and then manually checked and calculated. Comparisons were made to identify differences and similarities in the use of "noun + that " pattern between the two writer groups to aver or attribute voices.Form and function of every "noun + that"pattern in the process of voice construction were explored and compared. The results indicated that both western and Chinese scholars used averral twice more frequently than attribution in their research articles, and Chinese scholars’ use of "noun + that"pattern to attribute voice is much less frequent than western scholars ’. Both groups most frequently used the constructions of "fact/relation noun + that clause " to attribute averred voices and construct a positive evaluation to suggest approval.Nevertheless,both of them used the constructions of"event noun + that clause"the most to attribute attributed voices to a proposition and constr
