From Poetic Innovation to Social Reformation:A Diachronic Study of Pound’s Translational Behaviour in his Translaion of Chinese Classics

摘　　要：本文从历时性角度梳理并分析埃兹拉·庞德的汉籍英译活动,并以他在不同时期所译的具体汉籍为例,从“翻译内”和“翻译外”两个层次,进行译者行为批评分析。研究结果表明,庞德汉籍英译的形成是取决于西方的自身需求以及中国古籍文学价值两种因素的共同作用,而正是在这种共同作用的引领下,庞德的译文始终徘徊在“求真”与“务实”之间。但从总体上看,庞德的“务实性”行为比例明显大于其“求真性”行为的比例。This paper attempts to review Pound’s job of translating Chinese Classics and analyze his translational behavior within the critical domain of the translator’s behavior in terms of both intra-translation and extra-translation.The result shows that Pound’s translational works of the Chinese Classics are closely related to two factors,namely the cultural needs of the western world as well as the literary values of Chinese Classics.In addition,the analysis reveals that,on the whole,Pound’s translator’s behavior tends to be more“utility-attaining”according to the evaluative model of“Truth-seeking and Utility-attaining continuum”towards translator behavior.
