摘 要:我国应用翻译研究对于翻译理论的应用已经取得了前所未有的成绩,但也还尚存在一些问题。其中之一就是研究者热衷于发掘中外翻译理论资源,但不能将发掘出来的有关理论应用于当下现实问题。基于此,本文尝试通过案例,探讨显性翻译在具有湖湘或中国文化特色的湘菜菜名翻译中的应用。初步研究表明,显性翻译有助于外国友人了解湘菜所蕴含的深厚文化因素和独特湖湘或中国文化特征,更好地理解湖湘饮食文化,进而达到文化交流和传播的目的,显性翻译理论在湘菜菜名翻译中的应用,也丰富了应用翻译研究本身。Applied Translation Studies in China has made unpr ecedented achievements in the application of translation theories,but there are still some problems.One of the most striking contradictions is that the researchers are keen to explore the theoretical resources both at home and abroad,but only a few pay attention to the practical problems and make practical explorations.This paper,based on case studies,discussed the theory of overt translation and its application in the translation of Xiang Cuisine names with Huxiang or Chinese cultural features.It claimed that in the practice of translating these names,overt translation is preferable because it helps foreign friends to be acquainted with the profound cultural elements and the unique Huxiang or Chinese cultural traits included in the dish names in a more in-depth manner.In this way,the effect of cultural exchange and dissemination could be achieved.Moreover,the application of overt translation in the translation of Xiang Cuisine names enriches the study of applied translation itself.
