评价理论视阈下程度副词的级差功能辨析 ——以iMac广告三个汉译本中的“更”字为例  被引量:2

摘  要:针对英汉翻译中程度副词的应用问题,以评价理论系统为框架,从级差子系统的视角对iMac广告中国大陆、台湾地区和香港地区三个汉译本中程度副词“更”字在语篇中的评价功能进行了辨析。关注译本中“更”字的相关表达是否一定意味着评价力度的增强,以及如何识别其评价功能、对比功能和衔接功能。研究发现iMac广告香港地区译本里“更”字的使用最为频繁,但实际起到增强评价力度的“更”字占比并非最高,且衔接功能较为突出。该研究可为翻译对等问题提供新的考量标准,有助于译者在翻译实践中依据不同的翻译目的有意识地调节翻译策略。Regarding the application of degree adverbs in English-Chinese translation,this paper attempts to analyse geng expressions in three Chinese translations of the iMac advertisement from the China's Mainland,Taiwan and Hong Kong from the perspective of graduation sub-system within the appraisal framework.The paper focuses on exploring if the translation results in an increase of speakers/writers’subjective assessment of the intensity of evaluative meanings,additionally,how to distinguish evaluative,comparative and cohesive functions of the translation.It finds that the Hong Kong version presents a higher proportion of geng as a cohesive device,but the least proportion as increasing the intensity of evaluative meaning.The findings of this research can be related to the long-lasting discussion of translation equivalence in translation studies,and help translators make strategies.
