论《了不起的盖茨比》中的“夜”意象

摘　　要：《了不起的盖茨比》通过大量意象描写来烘托气氛、深化主题,其中以灯红酒绿的繁华红夜、静默孤独的月夜、充满死亡压抑的黑夜最为突出。三种夜意象分别隐喻了爵士时代物欲喧嚣下潜伏的精神危机、“盖茨比式”的年轻人对梦想求而不得的无限渴望、“美国梦”在金钱社会中必然破灭的悲剧控诉,表达出作者对美国爵士时代精神荒原的严肃批判。There are a large number of images in The Great Gatsby to highlight the atmosphere and deepen the theme.Among them,the bustling red and green night with feasting,the silent and lonely moon night,and the dark night full of death depression are the most prominent.Three kinds of night images not only show the metaphors for the spiritual crisis lurking under the hustle and bustle of the Jazz Age materialism,the infinite desires for dreams of young people like Gatsby,the complaints on the inevitable broken“American Dream”in the materialist society,but also express the author’s severe criticism of the spiritual wasteland of the American Jazz Age.
