Gastric cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world, with more than 50%of the cases occurring in East Asia and the second highest mortality rate among all malignant tumors.Metastasis is the main reason for poor prognosis of gastric cancer due to its predisposition to peritoneal diffusion.Existing studies have suggested that exosomes are involved in peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer, and exosomes can convey potential biological information to nearby or distant places, and destroy the mesothelial barrier by damaging peritoneal mesothelial cells, thus further causing peritoneal fibrosis and forming a metastasis environment conducive to peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer. The role of exosomes in peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer is still poorly understood. In this paper,we reviewed the research progress of exosomes derived from gastric cancer in the mechanism of peritoneal metastasis.
