Acute salbutamol toxicity in the emergency department:A case report

摘　　要：Dear editor,Salbutamol is a common medication used in a varietyof clinical settings. While there have been many reportedcases of orally ingested salbutamol toxicity, there haveonly been a few reports of inhaled salbutamol overdose.We describe a case of acute inhaled salbutamol toxicitywith a combination of clinical findings that have notbeen previously reported together in a single case. Giventhe ubiquitous use of salbutamol, many patients mayexperience symptoms of overdose on a spectrum thatranges from mild side eff ects to severe toxicity, which maybe under-recognized by emergency physicians. We believethat it is important for all emergency clinicians to be awareof and recognize the syndrome of β2-agonist toxicity.
