摘　　要：Based on the chronotopic level of narrative space introduced by Gabriel Zoran,this paper examines the three main characters in William Faulkner’s Dry September in the hope of getting closer to the real nature of them.It is found that Minnie Cooper and McLendon are more characters at rest who are tied to places not only geographically but also mentally,which may give clues to their tragic life.Though Hawkshaw may be narrated as a character in motion,his movements reveal the flawed human nature.
