With the increase of patients with hypertension in China, calcium channel blockers are more and more used to treat hypertension. However, gingival overgrowth will occur after taking calcium channel blockers. This kind of gingival overgrowth not only affects the health and beauty of patients'gums, but also interferes with the treatment of hypertension, and seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Therefore,in order to prevent the calcium channel blocker induced gingival overgrowth(CIGO),it is of clinical significance to study the mechanism of CIGO.Some studies have shown that this gingival overgrowth is related to the destruction of the balance between proliferation and apoptosis of gingival cells,In this paper,we reviewed the related literature of calcium channel blockers induced apoptosis of gingival cells,in order to provide a reference for the mechanism of CIGO in the future.
