牛僧孺《玄怪录·郭代公》考论

摘　　要：《玄怪录》是中唐时期牛僧孺所撰传奇集,《郭代公》是其中一篇。《郭代公》通过开元中落第才子郭元振智杀乌将军(猪精)拯救被困女子的故事,塑造了郭元振侠肝义胆、智勇双全的大丈夫形象。现实中郭元振镇守甘、凉长达十五年,后为兵部尚书。郭元振曾助唐玄宗诛太平公主,被封为代国公,后因故被贬,抑郁而卒。《玄怪录》大抵作于牛僧孺应举之前,是行卷之作。《郭代公》对唐玄宗及当下的骄藩悍帅进行了委婉的批评。牛僧孺大胆地运用想象对史实进行重构,以艺术化的手法反映郭元振的传奇人生,在虚实之间游刃有余,他对叙事视角和叙事节奏、对比手法的精准把握,体现了高超的叙事技巧。Xuanguai Lu(Unreliable Strange Records)was a collection of legends written by Niu Sengru in the mid-Tang Dynasty,and“Guo Daigong”was one of the legends.“Guo Daigong”creates Guo Yuanzhen as a man with chivalrous courage and wisdom by telling a story that Guo Yuanzhen rescues a woman who is to be rapped by a pig monster.In the real life,Guo Yuanzhen guarded Gan,Liang as long as 15 years,and later was appointed military secretary.He assisted Li Longji to kill Princess Taiping and was appointed acting Guogong.But then he was demoted for some reason and died of depression.“Xuan Guai Lu”was probably written as Xingjuan(a way of writing in the purpose of self-recommendation before the imperial examination in the Tang dynasty)before Niu Sengru passed the imperial examination.It was intended to euphemistically criticize Tang Xuanzong’s kicking down the ladder.It was influenced by the situation at that time and had realistic pertinence.Niu Sengru reconstructed the historical facts with his imagination and represented Guo Yuanzhen’s legendary life in an artistic way.He kept a good balance between the imagination and the reality.His narrative skills have found a full expression in his precise grasp of the narrative perspective,the narrative speed and the device of contrast.
