Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy, also named Graves’ophthalmopathy(GO),is an au-toimmune inflammatory disease involved in orbital tissue whose pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated. As the most common and difficultly relieved symptom clinically, proptosis is currently believed caused by theincrease of orbital contents, such as hyaluronic acid deposition, extraocular muscle thickening and adiposetissue remodeling.Among them, the expansion of the orbital adipose tissue seems to relate closer to it.Thy1^(-)subtypes in orbital fibroblasts(OF)can differentiate into adipocytes.OF has the potential to differentiate into adipocytes, and the factors affecting the differentiation process may involve in the regulation of signal transduction pathways.Abnormal adipogenesis originated from orbital fibroblasts in GO was reviewed tofurther understand the adipogenic mechanism, and to intervene it at an early stage,so as to provide newideas and new action sites for treating Go.
