摘 要:写作停顿,作为写作活动中产出过程的中断,是观察二语写作认知活动动态交替的窗口。本研究采用Inputlog7.0记录南京大学60名本科二年级学生的英语记叙文和议论文写作过程,并将写作过程划分为10个相等时段,通过各时段停顿频次和停顿时长的变化来考察体裁因素对二语写作认知加工过程的影响。研究发现,学习者在记叙文和议论文写作初始阶段均表现出频次低、时间长的构思停顿,说明初始阶段是学生进行内容检索规划的认知加工过程;但记叙文初始阶段冗长,表明学习者在记叙文写作初期的构思障碍。随着写作进一步展开,记叙文写作集中出现频次高、时间短的撰写停顿,体现为语言匹配内容的语言加工过程;而议论文写作中的停顿频次和停顿时长则显著变化,体现出撰写停顿和规划停顿的交叉,表明议论文产出过程中内容检索规划和语言匹配内容的双重加工过程。结合访谈数据,本文进一步考察了写作停顿凸显的二语写作问题和二语写作过程管理,以期反馈二语写作教学。Pauses,interruptions of the production process during writing,serve as windows to observe the dynamic interplay of cognitive processes in L2 writing.Using Inputlog 7.0,this study records the narrative and argumentative writing processes of 60 second-year college students at Nanjing University.Dividing each writing event into 10 equal intervals,this study examines pause frequency and pause duration at different intervals to understand the effects of genre on the cognitive processes in L2 writing.The results show that L2 writers initially displays planning pauses of low frequency and long duration both in narration and argumentation,indicating content retrieval and organization at the planning stage;but the prolonged planning stage in narration reveals L2 writers ’ planning difficulties in this genre.As the writing tasks unfolded over time,the narrative production is featured with drafting pauses of high frequency and short duration arising from focused linguistic processing,and yet the argumentative production witnesses significant fluctuation in pause duration,displaying both planning pauses and drafting pauses that embody the interplay of content retrieval and organization with linguistic processing.Supplemented by the retrospective interview data,this study further explores how pauses denotes writing problems and writing process management to better inform L2 writing pedagogy.
