以农为本科教兴国 辛勤育人桃李天下——怀念作物遗传育种学家龚几道教授

摘　　要：龚几道教授(1912~2007),字修如,曾用名畿道、仲仁,江苏海门人,作物遗传育种学家。龚几道就读于国立浙江大学农艺系,1935年毕业后任职于浙江省立棉业改良场、湖北棉业改良委员会实验总场、四川省农业技术改进所等;1939年起先后任教于国立西康技艺专科学校、国立复旦大学农学院。新中国建立后,先后任教于复旦大学、沈阳农学院和上海农学院。龚几道教授辛勤培养了大批学子,现已成为各级业务骨干和国家建设的栋梁之才;他的科研成果丰硕,为提高中国农业生产水平做出了重要的贡献。他工作勤奋,治学严谨,深入基层,勇于探索,生活俭朴,平易近人。龚几道教授长期从事遗传学、作物育种学领域的教学和科研工作,先后主持或参加棉花、小麦、玉米、高粱和蚕豆等作物的品种选育或品种改良等研究项目,所选育的"分枝大红穗"等高粱品种和"轮选一号"等蚕豆品种在农业生产上推广以后,取得良好的社会效益和经济价值。Professor Gong Jidao(龚几道)(1912~2007),whose style name is Xiu Ru(修如)and with other two names Jidao(畿道)and Zhongren(仲仁),was born in Haimen,Jiangsu Province.A crop genetics and breeding scientist,Professor Gong Jidao once studied in the Agronomy Department of National Zhejiang University.After graduating in 1935,he worked in Zhejiang Cotton Improvement Farm,Hubei Cotton Improvement Committee General Experimental Farm,Sichuan Agricultural Technology Improvement Institute respectively.Since 1939,he taught at National Xikang Technical College and Agricultural College of National Fudan University.After the founding of the People's Republic of China,he taught at Fudan University,Shenyang Agricultural College and Shanghai Agricultural College respectively.He taught and directed a large number of students who later have become the backbone forces in various research fields at all levels and the pillars of the country's construction.He achieved fruitful results in scientific research and made great contribution to the improvement and promotion of China's agricultural production.His hard-working spirit and diligence,his rigorous scientific approach,his daring spirit to explore and probe,his practical spirit of going-down-to-the-grassroots-units,his frugal and thrifty lifestyle and his amiable and easy approach,all of which have been highly appreciated and respected.Professor Gong Jidao was engaged in teaching and scientific research in the fields of genetics and crop breeding for a number of decades,and presided over or participated in a number of national research projects including crop breeding and improvement of crop varietiessuch as cotton,wheat,corn,sorghum and broad bean.The sorghum varieties such as"Branched Dahongsui"and"Lunxuan No.1 Broad Bean"have all achieved good social and economic benefits after being popularized in agricultural production.
