Autophagy is a highly conserved catabolism and energy generation process that is widely found in eukaryotes. It promotes the degradation of intracellular materials or damaged organelles, and provides cells with recyclable monomer substances for synthesizing new ingredients and generate energy.Abnormal autophagy is closely related to the occurrence and development of many diseases, especially cancer.Autophagy can prevent the development of cancer under normal circumstances, but once it develops into cancer, autophagy can promote the survival and growth of tumor cells.A large number of studies have shown that autophagy is related to the mechanism of chemotherapy resistance and radioresistance of tumors. Therefore, more and more scholars believe that targeted autophagy is expected to become a new strategy for cancer treatment. In recent years, with the extensive research on autophagy and cancer, the development of cancer treatment strategies targeting autophagy pathways has become a research focus in the field of tumors. This article intends to review the role of autophagy in the development and treatment of bladder cancer.
