摘　　要：中国古典小说名著的艺术呈现与文化意蕴都具有高度复杂的特征,单纯的文本、文献或文化研究难以揭示研究对象的复杂性,达成对研究对象的整体观照,只有多种研究方法综合运用才能真正解决问题。张锦池先生的《中国四大古典名著考论》是一部不拘守一端而以"文本、文献、文化"综合研究见长的著作。在研究方法上,张先生既不守旧,也不趋新,而是根据古典小说名著自身的特点,以文本细读为研究基础与核心环节,自觉于关键细节、主要人物和结构布局诸方面着力;在文献考辨方面,既注重纯文献问题的细致梳理和缜密考索,更长于亦考亦论、考论结合,体现出考据与义理相结合的特色;在治学理念上",求实为主,求新为辅",将相对抽象的思想、文化问题与具体的文本、文献相结合,从而对研究对象做出既切合实际又鞭辟入里的文化解读,并在古典小说研究中得到鲜明体现。The artistic presentation and cultural implications of Chinese classical novels are highly complex.Therefore, it is difficult to reveal the complexity of the research object and to achieve a holistic view of the research object by purely textual, documentary or cultural studies. Only the comprehensive application of various research methods can really solve the problem. ZHANG Jin-chi’s A Study of China’s Four Great Classics is a work that does not stick to one end of the spectrum but is distinguished by its comprehensive study of"text, literature and culture". In terms of research methodology, Mr. ZHANG neither sticks to the old nor tends to the new, but takes a close reading of the text as the basis and core of his study, consciously focusing on key details, major characters and structural layout. In the aspect of literature research, he not only focuses on the meticulous combing and rigorous research of pure literature problems, but also pays more attention to the combination of both research and theory, which reflects the characteristics of the combination of textual research and theory. The combination of relatively abstract ideological and cultural issues with concrete texts and documents, and the resultant practical and incisive cultural interpretation of the subject of study, is a clear manifestation of Mr. ZHANG’s philosophy of"seeking truth primarily and seeking new ideas secondarily"in the study of classical novels.
